Teen Challenge created a Curriculum of Primary Prevention of drug addiction suitable and adjusted to different age groups, with teaching methodologies, different strategies and techniques whose aim is, overall, the prevention of risk behaviors and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The prevention programs are called “Aprender a Crescer” (Learning to Grow), created for Primary School students “Escolhe Viver” (Choose to Live), aimed towards students of the middle grades up to Highschool level. Topics broached are self-esteem, assertiveness, relationships and feelings/values.
According to the needs felt when conducting school interventions, other prevention curricula was developed that continues the already existent modules. These follow the same thematic and methodological reasoning, and are called “Clube do Zé Pedro” (Zé Pedro’s Club), for Primary school and “DJ.Viver.Com” (Teen Challenge Live.com) for elementary and middle school. These programs may be conducted in school settings, as well as recreational and associative contexts, having the versatility to be applied indoors as well as outdoors.
